MS&AD Insurance Group through Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) donated a total of JPY 5,000,000 for rehabilitation of Central Sulawesi after the earthquake and tsunami struck on last September. The donation was given by Tsutomu Aoki, as President Director of MSIG Indonesia, as well as the representative of MS&AD Insurance Group on Wednesday, 19th December 2018 at PMI Headquarters, Jakarta. On that occasion, Ginandjar Kartasasmita, Daily Executive (PLH) Chairman of PMI, and Jhoni Darmawan as the Central Management of the Chairman of PMI Facilities and Infrastructure, were symbolically received donation from MS&AD Insurance Group.

The 7.4 magnitude earthquake and tsunami hit Central Sulawesi region and caused serious damage. The National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) noted that there were 66,238 damaged housing. Furthermore, the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) reported at least 2,736 schools were destroyed by the earthquake and tsunami. Health and hygiene facilities also damaged, so people had difficulty to reach those facilities.

But now almost three months has passed, the government and resident in Central Sulawesi are rebuilding temporary house, health, and hygiene facilities in stages. Children also have gradually recovered from post-disaster trauma. Hope this donation can help to maximize the rehabilitation process.
