MSIG-50th-anniversary

PT Asuransi MSIG Indonesia marked the end of 2025 with a milestone celebration of its 50th anniversary, held through a gala dinner at the Fairmont Hotel Jakarta on 5 December 2025. Carrying the theme “Golden Journey with Gratitude,” the event not only reflected on the company’s long-standing journey but also underscored MSIG Indonesia’s renewed commitment to strengthening protection for communities and supporting the nation’s economic growth.

The celebration brought together clients, business partners, representatives from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Embassy of Japan, and executives from MS&AD Insurance Group. Guests were welcomed with remarks from Shinichiro Funabiki, President and CEO of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. Japan, followed by speeches from Mitsuru Myochin, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia, and Ogi Prastomiyono, Chief Executive of Insurance, Surety, and Pension Fund Supervision at OJK.

Humanitarian Support for Flood Victims

Amid the festivity, MSIG Indonesia placed social responsibility at the forefront. During the event, the company delivered humanitarian assistance for communities affected by flash floods in Aceh and North Sumatra. The donation was symbolically handed over by Shikato Takeuchi, President Director of MSIG Indonesia, alongside Bernardus Wanandi, Vice President Director, before being distributed by Save the Children Indonesia.

The aid is expected to support around 600 people, including 150 children, through the provision of 100 hygiene kits, access to clean water in six locations, water torrent systems, and two Child-Friendly Spaces designed to facilitate psychosocial recovery for affected children.

Five Decades of Contribution to Indonesia

Since its establishment in 1975, MSIG Indonesia has grown from a general insurance provider into a trusted protection partner for corporations, SMEs, and individuals across the country.

“Our focus is to provide protection that truly responds to the needs of customers and communities,” said Shikato Takeuchi. Echoing this, Ogi Prastomiyono emphasized that MSIG Indonesia’s 50-year journey stands as proof of its significant role in advancing the national insurance industry.

As part of MS&AD Insurance Group, one of the largest general insurance groups in the world, MSIG Indonesia continues to merge global expertise with deep local understanding to deliver relevant and comprehensive insurance solutions for the Indonesian market.

Strengthening Global Presence Through 2027 Rebranding

The anniversary celebration also highlighted an important strategic direction at the group level. MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings, Inc. has announced plans to merge Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. with Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Co., Ltd., a process targeted for completion in April 2027. Following the merger, the group will adopt a new global brand identity: MSIG, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group.

According to Shinichiro Funabiki, this transformation will enhance the group’s capability to drive digital innovation and expand its contributions to renewable energy projects including those in Indonesia.

MSIG Indonesia’s Ongoing Commitment to Sustainability

Beyond its core business, MSIG Indonesia continues to advance various sustainability initiatives. Since 2023, the company has planted at least 5,000 mangrove trees annually to strengthen coastal resilience. Its education program in Paliyan, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta, which began in 2005, now supports 12 schools and benefits more than 1,000 students each year through the provision of learning materials, sports and arts equipment, health facilities, and other educational resources.

MSIG Indonesia also runs the annual Biodiversity Fun Class program and collaborations with universities such as BINUS University, Prasetiya Mulya University, and Gadjah Mada University further demonstrate the company’s commitment to improving environmental and financial literacy among young learners.

As it enters its golden era, MSIG Indonesia is sharpening its focus on digital innovation, expanding access to insurance protection, and strengthening its long-term contributions to Indonesian society. With a solid foundation built over five decades, the company is ready to move forward with the spirit of “Protecting Goals, Powering Futures.”
