Did You Know? Tips for facing a pool of floods when driving

Heavy rain may lead to large puddles that may hinder your trip. Herewith some tips to help you prepare for such situation.

  • Stay calm. If you find yourself trapped in your car in fast-rising water please remain calm, do not panic and roughly push the gas pedal.
  • Size up the puddle first. If the puddle appear do not exceeding the edge of the sidewalk or still within reasonable height and won’t make contact with the engine, you might continue driving through the puddle.
  • Observe the car in front of you. Use the car in front of you as guidance. If the same height or type of car is safely pass the puddle you may continue the driving as well.
  • Keep a distance. Heavy rain and puddles may hinder your driving ability, please keep your distance with vehicles around you just in case they broke down.
  • Turn off the extra fan feature. If the car's components are submerged in water, the propeller motor may becomes overloaded, and will damage if it is continue forced to be turned on.
  • Dry the brakes. When you manage to pass through, dry the brakes by slowly stepping on the brake pedal along with the gas pedal too. Repeat it several times to keep the brakes functioning well.
  • In unexpected circumstances if your vehicle is submerged in water, please turn off the engine immediately or if the engine suddenly turn off, do not turn it on again and immediately tow your vehicle to a safe place.
